The Opportunity
The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) is conducting a search for an experienced executive with strong leadership skills to guide NIBS as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the overall effective management and operations of the organization and for supporting the Board in setting strategic direction by providing advice and guidance to advance the NIBS mission, goals, objectives, and policies.
About NIBS
NIBS is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-governmental organization that supports advances in building science and technology. Approximately 50 years ago, Congress recognized the need for an organization to serve as an interface between government and the members of the building industry to identify and resolve problems that hamper the construction of safe, affordable housing and commercial structures throughout the country. To meet that need, NIBS was established by the U.S. Congress in the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.
Located in Washington, DC, NIBS currently has a budget of $22M and employs a staff of 40, which is augmented by a team of contractors with specialized skills and expertise. NIBS is governed by a 21-member Board of Directors, six of whom are appointed by the President of the United States. NIBS' revenue sources include contracts and grants from federal and state agencies and private sector contracts and contributions, membership dues, events, and publication sales.

This position is assigned to a federal government agency and includes performing a variety of tasks associated with Agency's Building Information Modeling and Management (BIM) initiative as part of NIBS BIM Program team. BIM Manager duties include assisting the agency in identifying BIM requirements for projects, performing reviews of BIM and related document submittals on projects in process and working with the NIBS BIM Team to develop the Agency BIM Program. Duties also include supporting preparation of specific studies, preparation of presentations materials, representation at meetings and workshops, review of technical literature and research, and serve as a technical liaison where assigned. Duties also include assisting the agency in utilizing BIM workflows to support efficiency improvements to facility management with a focus on space management.
Nature and Scope of Work
This position reports to the Building Information Management Program Manager. The position is assigned to and receives management direction on tasks from the Agency. Documented and demonstrated ability to interface with Federal Government and facility management industry constituents, and other entities associated with the Institute's goals and services is essential to the position. Participation on project teams contributing expertise in BIM to perform assigned tasks to meet deadlines is important.

We bring together experts from throughout the building industry, design, architecture, construction, and government. We lead conversations to ensure our buildings and communities remain safe, and we work to seek consensus solutions to mutual problems of concern.
SUMMARY
The Senior Vice President, Professional & Government Affairs will lead the engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with government entities at the federal, state, and local level to support the National Institute of Building Sciences' strategic priorities. The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing NIBS's federal and state legislative, regulatory, and advocacy strategies in support of the organizational objectives and strategic initiatives. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

SUMMARY
The Vice President of Business Strategies is responsible for defining and executing the business development and growth strategy for NIBS, specifically with a focus on Local, State, and Federal government. They develop and execute short-term and long-term strategic sales plans and tactics to identify and engage growth partners. The Vice President establishes strategic relationships with stakeholders that offer support to the organization, thus responsible for most of the revenue generation.
The individual is responsible for business development and works closely with other leaders and groups/departments to increase revenue and overall support across all product and service lines. They will create and maintain yearly budgets.
