Consultative Council
The Consultative Council assembles high-level building community representatives to make recommendations directly to the executive and legislative branches of government to improve our nation's buildings and infrastructure.
Each year, the Consultative Council publishes the Moving Forward Report to investigate key issues, offering solutions to overcoming these challenges. The 2022 Moving Forward Report looks closely at the relationship between the climate emergency and the built environment, charting a path toward decarbonization of U.S. buildings.

Membership
The council provides a forum for regular interaction and discussion among key organizations. These organizations represent consumers, architects, engineers, government officials, contractors, researchers, and housing officials.

Housing Affordability Hearing
During this hearing hosted by the NIBS Consultative Council, attendees will question the causes of and shape solutions to the housing affordability crisis in America. The hearing is open to the public with an option to attend virtually or in-person. NIBS will publish a report of hearing events and key findings in early 2024.

COVID-19 Virtual Town Hall Series
Bringing America back to work and restarting the economy will take planning and vision. Any movement in the direction toward reentering and repopulating buildings, businesses, and transportation systems must follow the health and safety guidelines set forth by science and data, the federal government, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and World Health Organization. To meet this challenge, the Consultative Council sponsored a series of COVID-19 virtual town halls.
