Building Innovation: Who’s the 2024 Exceptional Woman in Building?
The National Institute of Building Sciences Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) will host, under the sponsorship of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), a new 2017 webinar series focused on construction materials addressed in the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) publications.
The webinars will be based on three documents produced by the BSSC and published by FEMA in the 2015 NEHRP Provisions cycle, including FEMA P-1050, 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures; FEMA P-1051, 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions: Design Examples; and FEMA P-1052, 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions: Training and Instructional Materials.
The first webinar in a new 2017 series hosted by the National Institute of Building Sciences Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) and sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will focus on the seismic design of reinforced concrete structures using the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for Buildings and Other Structures and its primary reference standards: ASCE/SEI 7-10: Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures and ACI 318-14: Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete.
The National Institute of Building Sciences Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) will host the second webinar in its 2017 series sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The free webinar, “Seismic Design of Precast Concrete Structures,” will be held Friday, March 17, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET (11:00 am to 12:00 pm PT).
The webinar highlights the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for Buildings and Other Structures, as well as its supporting materials, FEMA P-1051 Design Examples and FEMA P-1052 Training Materials
The National Institute of Building Sciences Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) will host the third webinar in its 2017 series sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The free webinar, “Design of Seismic Force-Resisting Systems in Steel-Framed Buildings,” will be held Friday, April 21, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET (11:00 am to 12:00 pm PT).
The webinar highlights the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for Buildings and Other Structures, as well as its supporting materials, FEMA P-1051 Design Examples and FEMA P-1052 Training Materials.
The National Institute of Building Sciences Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) will host the fourth webinar in its 2017 series sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The free webinar, “Seismic Design of Composite Steel and Concrete Structures,” will be held Friday, June 2, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET (11:00 am to 12:00 pm PT).
The BSSC webinar series highlights the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for Buildings and Other Structures, as well as its supporting materials, FEMA P-1051 Design Examples and FEMA P-1052 Training Materials.
The National Institute of Building Sciences Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) will host the fifth webinar in its 2017 series sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The free webinar, “Design of Seismic Force-Resisting Systems in Wood Light-Frame Buildings,” will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET (11:00 am to 12:00 pm PT).
The webinar series highlights the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) 2015 NEHRP Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures, as well as its supporting materials, FEMA P-1051 Design Examples and FEMA P-1052 Training Materials.
When it comes to reducing the impact of natural disasters, mitigation improves safety, prevents property loss, and keeps disruption to a minimum, says a report by the National Institute of Building Sciences.
“While COVID-19 presents our nation with unprecedented challenges, natural disasters are continuing,” says Lakisha A. Woods, CAE, President and CEO of NIBS. “Millions of Americans are exposed to these disasters. Mitigation is a crucial step to keeping our homes, businesses, and communities safe.”
