The NIBS Building Information Management Council (BIMC) National CAD Standard Steering Committee (NCS SC) responsible for overseeing the development of the latest version of the nation’s leading CAD standard is calling upon owners and users of the United States National CAD Standard® V6 (NCS) to participate in the review of the proposed changes to the current edition of the standard.
The NCS Ballot Comment Period will open on April 28, 2023. This is your chance to add your thoughts on the proposed changes to reorganize the next version of the standard.

The National Institute of Building Sciences has developed an implementation and launch plan for the U.S. National Building Information Management (BIM) Program, entitled The Foundation for Digital Transformation of Capital Facilities and Infrastructure.
The NCS V7 Steering Committee is calling upon current owners and users of the United States National CAD Standard® (NCS) to participate in the development of the latest version of the nation’s leading CAD standard.
Owners of the NCS V6 are encouraged to get involved in the development of the next edition by joining the NCS V7 Project Committee. The NCS V7 Steering Committee and NCS V7 Project Committee are committees of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Building Information Management Council (BIMC).
The built environment is being challenged by many trends and disruptors: digital transformation, off-site manufacturing, sustainability concerns, an aging workforce leading to lack of skilled labor, as well as COVID-19, which is affecting the health, safety, and well-being of workers.
Organizations must remain resilient to meet challenges and continue to grow and flourish. To become resilient, we must respond and adopt new ways of thinking and working.
NIBS team member Roger Grant recently presented at the BIM for Infrastructure webinar – the third in a series of industry workshops for the U.S. transportation industry promoting model-based digital delivery throughout the project lifecycle. Grant provided an update on the National BIM Program.
