Building Innovation: Who’s the 2024 Exceptional Woman in Building?
ENR BuildTech is a unique conference focused on all moving parts of a building project including teams, management and technology. To be successful, companies must change their culture to include a high-engagement atmosphere where everyone on the team is feels obligated to do their best to accomplish a common design vision.
The mission of this event is to bring together members of the buildings design and build team to learn about new techniques, technologies, materials, products and processes that will foster innovation and accelerate their building construction projects.
ENR BuildTech creates a learning, collaborative and networking environment featuring a blend of keynotes and panel discussions from building construction and design innovators.
Virtual MeetingThe National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports there were more than 1,200 tornadoes in 2020, leading to the highest tornado death rate in almost a decade. A deadly tornado outbreak affected the Southeastern United States on Easter Sunday and Monday, causing 32 fatalities. This was part of a larger severe convective storm (SCS) that affected the Plains, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic states, and it led to at least $3 billion in insured losses. Data shows that on August 10, the derecho that slammed the Midwest was the costliest SCS in U.S. history, causing $11 billion in damage, according to the National Weather Service. Since tornadoes and wind-heavy storms can happen anywhere at any time, it is important to learn how to mitigate the damage caused by these disasters.
In this webinar, we will discuss:
Today’s architectural educators operate in a rapidly evolving social, cultural, technological and ecological milieu that expands and complicates the problem space, while introducing new possibilities for how we teach and engage our students and local communities. Conditions and expectations of our home institutions often frame our efforts, sometimes reinforcing the status quo while simultaneously demanding innovation in scholarship, teaching, and praxis. The 109th Annual Meeting of the ACSA will invoke the multivalent nature of PROSPECT as extensive view, a place from which to gain vantage enabling the act of looking forward and exploring. The conference will be a place from where we can appreciate the expanse of architectural education’s possible futures, simultaneously envision those futures through active inquiry and explore the interconnectedness of our communities.
Virtual MeetingThe ACI Concrete Convention is the world’s gathering place for advancing concrete materials, design, construction, and repair, bringing together the world’s most well-known leaders with professionals looking to learn. Conventions provide a forum for networking and education and an opportunity to provide input on the concrete industry’s codes, specifications, and guides.
Committees meet to develop the standards, reports, and other documents necessary to keep up with the ever-changing world of concrete technology. Committee meetings are open to all registered convention attendees.
Virtual MeetingThe AGC Annual Convention is the place for construction superintendents, project managers, senior executives, and owners to hone their knowledge while making connections that open doors to new opportunities.
Orlando, FLThe International Mass Timber Conference is the largest gathering of mass timber experts in the world.
Explore the supply chain for cross-laminated timber (CLT), nail-laminated timber, glulam beams and panels, mass plywood panels, dowel-laminated timber, and laminated veneer lumber; and the opportunities and obstacles for mass timber in global design, manufacturing, and construction.
Virtual MeetingThe Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has national leadership responsibilities for managing risks involving critical infrastructure, key resources, and events. DHS has identified commercial facilities as key assets in the critical infrastructure/ key resource sector and encourages the widespread deployment of effective anti-terrorism technologies, services and capabilities. Building security programs are a technology that may receive designation under the SAFETY Act. To help commercial building owners and managers, the Science and Technology Directorate and the Office of SAFETY Act Implementation identified a set of best operational security practices for metropolitan commercial office buildings, referred to as Best Practices for Anti-Terrorism Security or BPATS.
On March 31, 2021 , we will be conducting a virtual training session on BPATS Based Assessment Process for Commercial Facilities from 10:00am–5:00pm EST.
The training will start with an overview of the Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act and an introduction to the BPATS Assessment Process and Common Security Practices. Then the instructor will describe the online BPATS Assessment Tool in detail, provide training on how to use the tool, and lead a hands-on exercise with the students.
If you have any questions regarding the course or registration, you may contact Terry Ryan (Lead Instructor) at BPATSTool@nibs.org. For information about NIBS, please go to nibs.org. Thank you and we look forward to your participation.
Virtual TrainingThe Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI), in partnership with the University of Colorado Boulder, is pleased to announce the 9th Biennial Professional Conference for 2021.
The concept of living buildings has recently emerged as the new ideal for sustainable building design and construction. Defined as a building that generates all of its own energy with renewable, non-toxic resources, captures and treats all of its water, and operates efficiently with an uncompromising aesthetic, living buildings represent a new species of buildings that blends boundaries between the built environment and the natural world and necessitates creative, integrative engineering and architecture solutions to meet rigorous design challenges.
