BI2022 Day 1 Highlights: Decarbonization, BIM, Climate Resiliency and Building Codes

Building Innovation 2022 met in-person for the first time since 2019, with a robust lineup of educational sessions, covering a spectrum of built environment hot topics.

Among the highlights: Decarbonization, building information modeling, digital transformation, climate resiliency, mitigation planning, and building codes.

The National Institute of Building Sciences hosted BI2022 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. The meeting had 300 registrants.

BI2022 Early Bird Registration is Closing!

The deadline for early bird registration for Building Innovation 2022 is tomorrow, July 26!

The National Institute of Building Sciences team is finalizing BI2022 preparations, including the conference schedule. Conference programming is built around three tracks: resilience, technology, and building performance and sustainability.

BI2022 takes place September 26-28, 2022, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.

NIBS Award winner, Robert Ivy

Since 2011, the National Institute of Building Sciences has recognized a single built environment leader – the highest honor we have in our awards collection – during the Building Innovation Conference.

The Mortimer M. Marshall Lifetime Achievement Award goes to someone who has demonstrated a lifetime of dedication to the mission and goals of NIBS. The award was named after the first member of NIBS.

Last year, the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Robert Ivy, FAIA, and now retired EVP/CEO of the American Institute of Architects.

The scholarship promotes diversity in the building sciences and benefits students pursuing a career in architecture and engineering at a historically Black college or university (HBCU). It was established because of a generous endowment from the Marshalls, a sponsorship from the National Institute of Building Sciences, and contributions from friends, family and colleagues.
